US President Joe Biden will provide up to $102 million to expand the US strategic partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at a virtual meeting of the ASEAN summit on Tuesday, the White House said.
US funding will be used for health, climate, economic and educational programs, the White House said.
Of the total budget, US$40 million will be used for initiatives to help tackle the current Covid-19 pandemic and strengthen ASEAN’s ability to prevent, detect and respond to future outbreaks of infectious diseases, he said, quoted by Reuters, October 26, 2021.
